Miranda Jones |
Hi! My name is Miranda. I am the owner of Sooner State Doula. I come from a large and rambunctious family and I was blessed enough to be invited at a young age to the birth of some of my siblings. I really became interested in birth work after the birth of my youngest sister. As a spectator, I noticed gaps in the modern maternal care model that really bothered me. I thought there should be a more personal and relational way to care for families during the most wonderous and miraculous transition of their lives.
I have been a doula in the OKC metro area since 2015. As an education junkie, I have pursued continuing education in nearly all aspects of maternal care, including postpartum support, trauma informed care, childbirth education and breastfeeding support. I have a deep love for Jesus, my husband, and our two daughters. I grew up in Norman, Oklahoma (BOOMER SOONER!) and now live a few miles away in the quiet town of Newcastle. We have a small homestead and enjoy gardening and taking care of our farm animals. Most days you can find me at the gym, homeschooling my children, or going on a geocaching adventure! I am also the Co-Owner of Simple Birth where I teach childbirth and breastfeeding classes with my dear friend and colleague Cacey Malone. As well as the Assistant Director of Oklahomans for Health and Parental Rights, a political action committee and non-profit committed to advancing health choice and parental rights in Oklahoma. I have experience supporting women during VBAC's (including VBA3C), births of multiples, home birth, birth center births, cesarean birth, unmedicated and medicated hospital births, military families, families with special needs, teen and crisis pregnancies and so much more. |
